Guests of the vernissage, including students’ family, friends and Hebrew Academy staff, were truly in awe of the exhibit’s beauty and the calibre of the students’ work. From self portraits and still-life to pop art, masks, decoupage, murals and 3-D art, the students’ work reflected hours of dedication and exploration of various multimedia – including acrylic, papier-mâché, clay, pastels and wood – and themes – such as holidays, seasons, geometry, animals and colour theory. A project of the Elementary French Department, the exhibit in the Lieberman Family Beit Midrash featured exquisite displays by students in Grades 1 through 6 creations the students and their teachers have been working on for months. Hebrew Academy Elementary students unveiled their inner Van Goghs, Picassos, Chakis, Agams and Brittos last night, at the school’s first Art Vernissage.
